Storybook Favorities

Creative Recreations!

Last semester, Fall 2017, I took the Mythology and Folklore class. For my final project I choose to do a portfolio project and called it; Lion, Parrot, Turkey, Elephant. I had really enjoyed the different stories over animals from the readings, and as you can tell, choose to recreate the animal themed stories. I enjoyed just getting to go through my different stories and choose the ones I liked the most. For this semester, I would like to try and create a storybook for my final project. I decided to focus on looking through the Indian Epics storybook projects to get a feel for the different readings I would be going through this semester. While I do not know a lot about Hinduism, I can tell there are going to be a large amount of readings that discuss and go further into the different gods and aspects of the religion. The three storybooks I really enjoyed from the last semester all had a different type of writing but kept the reader engaged and followed along with their theme very well, their backgrounds even matched their themes. In the storybook project, Indian Epics: Tales of the Wild, the writer followed along a western theme and told the different stories about ???? from the point of view of the town’s sheriff. The second story book caught my attention because it was Harry Potter themed and called, Voldemort’s Reincarnation. I enjoyed getting to learn more about Rama and Ravana. Since I know about Voldemort and Harry Potter characters it helps put into perspective the fight of good and evil that parallels between the two characters and the Hindu gods. Also the writer used two sister who, in the movies, seem to be from India pulling together the Harry Potter theme and Hinduism. The third storybook also caught my attention because it was themed off of a popular television series called, CSI: Indian Epics. Not only did it follow along the Hindu gods different storylines but the stories were told in CSI case files style.
