Time to get to work.
Out of all of the different assignments for this class my favorite is defiantly the reading assignments. I am excited to get started on the reading for this semester in the Indian Epics class. Last semester I enjoyed the animal stories from the Mythology and Folklore class and cannot wait to find similar stories in this course. I enjoyed getting to hear tales that seemed familiar from what we think our classic Disney tales, only to learn what the original tale is. From looking through the reading for this class, it seems that we will be reading more of one long story broken up into sections then a bunch of separate smaller stories. Trying to recreate tales from longer stories could become a little tricky in trying to rewrite because I have gotten used to just retelling small stories. I hope I can figure out how to make these long stories into shorter tales with happy endings. I think this will help me figure out the design and writing for my final project. Last semester I had chosen to write a portfolio with different small stories that focused on a theme, but this semester I am going to try writing a final storybook. Since some of the reading is a long story broken up into reading sections, it could help me figure out how to write a continuous story for my storybook. From being in the course Mythology and Folklore course last semester I learned that your grade it about how much effort you decide to put into the coursework. Each student is given so much material and extra credit to help you succeed in the class to make an A, so there is no excuse. Last semester I used the extra credit reading assignments to help me make up points I missed and help me find particular animal stories I wanted to use in my portfolio. I am sure I will use this extra credit option again this semester, but I hope I also attempt other extra credit opportunities.
